About:
Founded by Robert Cains in 1858. Robert Cains had established 200 pubs after just 25 years of founding the brewery.

In 1921 it was sold to Walkers of Warrington.

In 1923 the Stanhope Street Brewery was sold to Higsons.

In 1985 was bought by Boddingtons of Manchester who five years later sold all their breweries to Whitebread who closed down the Stanhope Street Brewery.

In 2002 as financial disaster loomed it was bought by the Dusanj brothers for £3.4 million.

In 2007 it was taken over by Honeycombe Leisure plc. But in August 2008 was then put into administration for an un paid tax bill. The Dusanj brothers then bought back the brewery with 8 of its original pubs.
