Started in 1849 by a farmer and maltster John Harris in a farmhouse. It is today run by his great great grandson.
On the ground floor of the brewery is a 25 horsepower steam engine that was installed in 1899 to power the brew process and which is still occasionally still used.
They stopped delivering by shire horse in 1950 but in 1985 decided to bring this tradition back, but only for deliveries within 5 miles of the brewery.
Certain beers are also available in polypins and minipins.
