About Joblings Swinging Gibbet:
Named after William Jobling who was convicted of murdering Nicholas Fairless by South Tyneside Magistrates. Even though it was widely known he was just a spectator at the scene. He was sentenced to a public execution and for his body to be hung in a gibbet on Jarrow Slake.
