The company was formed in 1997 by Bob Lawson and a business partner. Bob Lawson had previously been working with several other breweries across the country for forty years previously.
The original brewery was built on the side of the Brewers Pride pub with a 5 barrel brew plant.
As the beers started to win many awards and gain in popularity they expanded the original brewery to a 40 barrel brew plant.
In 2001 Bob Lawson became sole owner of Ossett Brewing until 2002 when his son Jaime Lawson joined the firm.
In 2003 they opened their second pub The Black Bull.
With popularity ever increasing they decided to find new premises for the brewery and in 2005 moved to the current brewery with a 120 barrel a week brew plant.
