Started in 1978 by Peter Austin.
The original brewery was based in a former bakery.
In 1986 they changed premises to expand the brewery. the location being where the old Turk's Head Brewery was located which closed down in 1821.
Today produces 40,000 barrels of beer.
In 2007 the brewery was sold to Marstons Plc.
